Method 7 of the "Aims and Goals of Scouting" is Leadership Development.
Leadership Development encourages boys to learn and practice leadership skills. Every Scout has the opportunity to participate in both shared and total leadership situations. Understanding the concept of leadership helps a boy accept the leadership roles of others and guides him toward the citizenship aim of Scouting. Troop 1412 encourages parents and adult leaders to stand back and let the Scouts run the Troop as much as possible.
Many of the higher ranks of Scouting require that a scout serve in a leadership position for a period of time before they are awarded that rank. As scouts are rotated through these roles, they learn valuable skills that they will put to use later in life.
This section descibes the leadership roles that are available within Troop 1412, and the duties and responsibilities that are expected of the scout that is in that role.
